Common use
Frumil (Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide, Midamor) is a diuretic combination used in the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure, edematous syndrome of various origin (including those which occur with chronic heart failure nephrotic syndrome, cirrhosis).
Dosage and direction
If you are treated for high blood pressure use of Frumil requires several weeks as it does not treat hypertension but just keeps it under control.
Precautions
If you are sick with diabetes, kidney or liver disease, drug allergies notify your doctor about your condition. Do not large amounts of food with high content of potassium such as bananas, baked potatoes, cantaloupe, avocado, raisins, cooked spinach. Alcohol may increase the effects of this drug and some of its side effects. Do not stand up from a lying position rapidly, just sit for a few minutes before rising. Frumil does not cause potassium loss from the body so there is no need in salt substitutes. Inform your doctor if you are plan pregnancy or are already pregnant.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, hyperpotassemia, severe kidney disorders, hepatic coma.
Possible side effect
This drug may cause dizziness or vision changes, dehydration (dry mouth) or thirst, vomit, nausea, headache hyperpotassemia. Seek for medical attention in case you experience muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, tingling of the hands or feet, fatigue, breathing difficulties, difficulty urinating.
Drug interaction
Frumil may interact with such drugs: ACE inhibitors, barbiturates, cholestyramine, corticosteroids, insulin, cyclosporine, muscle relaxants such as tubocurarine, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, other high blood pressure medications.
Missed dose
If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember, but not if it is almost time of the next intake by your schedule. If so do not take the missed dose. Do not try to compensate a missed dose by taking an extra one.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have taken too much of Frumil. There are not special signs of overdose for this medication except of dehydration.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59-86 F (between 15-30 C), keep Frumil away from moisture and sunlight.
